She's in the Band

Genre: Self-dubbed "ukulele-jam-rock".

Project Members: Hannah Sciurba (for now, hoping to expand to a full band after the record drops.)

Start Date: Summer 2008

Bio:

She’s In The Band is a one-woman band featuring the unique musical stylings of

Hannah Sciurba, a ukulele songstress with a powerful voice and a habit of telling it like it is.

She’s In The Band was formed in the summer of 2008 with the hopes of not only being able to

tour and share music with as many people as humanly possible, but also with the idea of

expanding the slowly growing, self-titled genre of “ukulele-jam-rock”.

Over the years Hannah has played various venues all over Southern California, spreading

the love with her humorous lyrics and “who cares” attitude. In 2009 she began gaining

popularity as some kind of YouTube celebrity, posting her renditions of popular songs on her

page for people to rate and comment.

One cover that caught the public’s eye was Hannah’s adaptation of the positive-
hardcore song “This Is More” by Orange County band Stick To Your Guns. Hannah used open
chords, strong strums and a beautiful melody to turn the otherwise metal-influenced song into
a catchy pop number. When Stick To Your Guns caught wind of the cover, they publicly started
a search for “that girl playing the tiny guitar.” The band loved the unique cover so much they
wanted to include it on their new album, “The Hope Division” as a hidden track. That album
was released June 1st, 2010 and you’ll be happy to find those pleasant ukulele strums at the
end of the very last track. Since then She’s In The Band has gained increasing attention from
bands and artists with requests to cover many more songs.

Nowadays She’s In The Band spends a lot of time promoting new original music via live
shows and networking through YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Currently in the studio
recording the debut She’s In The Band EP, “Better,” Hannah was driven with a desire to

completely self-fund the EP and with the help of fans and followers, has raised over $2,000 in

donations so far. There is still a long way to go, but ultimately She's In The Band hopes to have

further success engaging and connecting with fans through laughter and music.
